Fun day with Kids

The kids were out of school so we decided to have a sleep over and then have a day with Halloween as a focus. I had 4 different things planned and we only got to 2 of them. Oh well, we have many more days to finish. Here's how the day started.

Up earlier than expected. They didn't stay up too late but I think they could have slept in a little longer. They decided they wanted chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast so I added a Halloween spin to it.
What better way to start the day than with a ton of sugar.....Chocolate chip pancakes, dusted in powder sugar with a chocolate Spiderweb and spider. YUM. The were spinning for quite some time after that.

While Gavin was in tutoring we needed to pick up a few more things for the cupcakes and Bat pumpkins we were going to make. They each picked out their own little munchkin pumpkin.
We when we arrived back home we painted the rods for our Bat Mobile. No not the car the kind that hang. They kept asking how we were going to make a car out of a pumpkin. After the prep for our mobile and bat pumpkins were painted they got started making lunch. They made wrapped mummy dogs and monster mac. It's always fun to make your own food. Yes that is green Mac n Cheese.

Now to work on our Bat mobiles. Lots of cutting tying, and balancing to get them to hang right. They laughed, told jokes and storires while they were busy with their craft.

The grand finale of the day was cupcake decorating. They had a blast and honestly I don't think they could fit more stuff on the tops of their cupcakes. With 6 different colors of icing and a dozen more toppings they made some very creepy creations.

Overall a very fun day. Bridget just came in and asked if she could have a piece of candy. OMG they have eaten enough for today. We didn't get to the Pumpkin bats or putting together the Boo bags (which I will talk about soon). We can save those for another fun Halloween Day.

  1. Those pancakes are so PRETTY! I wouldn't want to eat it - ok, yes I would. Great crafts! Can't wait to see what else you come up with!
